Ok, seriously.  This thing is over.

If any of you guys need me, look me up on Facebook or AIM.

It's been fun, but blogging is not something I have time for anymore, especially considering that I never had anything relevant to say on this thing anyway.  Maybe I'll get back to it over the summer.

Over and out.

Alright, so it's been forever.  Time for a quick update on the happenings of the last few months.

1.  Finished the semester with a 4.0 GPA.  What up.

2.  I now have a girlfriend.  Her name is Christina and she is awesome.

3.  Christmas / New Year's was fun.  Hanging / partying with Pat / Alek / Rockland / Will / Bryan / Kris etc. was a great time as usual.

4.  Doing fine in school now, taking a Dostoyevsky and an early English Lit. course.  Fun times.  Work still going OK.  Probably gonna have a beer tasting in a few weekends, including ales from all over the world.

That's about it, in a nutshell.  Maybe I'll be better about updating in the future so everything won't be rediculously compressed.

OK, I'm off to scare up some trouble tonight so I can be nice and hungover when I start my "Milton's Satan compared to Lermontov's Demon" paper tomorrow.  Later.

Well hello everyone.  I'm putting off an English paper ("Alexander Pope as Part of the Vergilian Tradition"), so I figured I'd do my monthly update on my activities.

Today I experienced a major bummer: Death Before Dishonor may not be playing in Nashville.  Also, No Warning will not be touring with them, and I don't care if they do, because apparently they decided that the steaming-nu-metal-turd sound worked a lot better for them.  Seriously, the new album sounds like Linkin Park.  Anywho, they sold out big time and I will probably never see a decent version of "Short Fuse."  Ever.

No news yet on the Blood for Blood tour but I am firmly resolved to see them NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.  I'll fly if I have to.

Let's see, what else... Halloween weekend was fun, lots of partys and such.  There was a party at a bar hosted by some fraternity or other, but the bar was still open so you had a bunch of 35 year olds trying to grind with freshman chicks, and that resulted in some random fights and other such things.  Overall, however, fun times.

I did well on most of my midterm exams and my overall grades are A, A, A-, and B+, which I think I deserve given how much ass I've busted over the course of the semester.  Work has been especially insane and I've been working some long hours on top of having lots of papers and tests.  But I'm pulling through pretty well and I'm very proud of myself.

On another down-note, my fam is apparently going to spend Thanksgiving in Alabama, so I won't be in Fort Worth at all except for the night of Tuesday, the 21st.  Christmas is only about three weeks after that but I miss a lot of you Fort Worth people, because I haven't gotten a chance to see many of you at all this semester.  Also a (completely unrelated) bummer, Alabama football has generally been not that great this season and it's been nothing to get excited about, although pro ball is showing some potential for an exciting post-season.

Well I suppose it's paper time... I'm definitely going to be up all night, but for some reason I just can't seem to make myself do the damn thing.  Procrastination will one day be the death of me, but up to this point my best papers have been those that I procrastinated the worst on (waited until 10 o' clock the night before to start, as I am doing now), so I see no reason to change my ways.  I'm out.

--Did I mention that the Gorilla Biscuits covered Warzone's "As One" at the show?  I don't know.  However, I'd like to remind everyone, again, that it was AWESOME.  I'll post the set list to further rub it in later.

Woooo, it's been a while.  Last time I made an entry, I was just starting classes.  Wow, a lot has changed.

I'm pretty much enjoying all my classes, English most of all.  My Latin knowledge has really helped since we're studying late 16th centruy poets like Marlowe (my personal favorite), who cut their poetic teeth on Latin poets like Ovid, Martial, and Juvenal.  In fact, just two nights ago I stayed up all night to finish a paper on how Marlowe's version of the Hero & Leander myth compared to Ovid's version.  I think it's a pretty good one.  Anyway, I've been staying busy, since all the classes are really work intensive.  However, I've had enough time to work at the liquor and wine store on weekends, nailin' down some good pay to finance my gas, food, and beer expenses.  That's working out pretty good so far, and I made it through one slew of papers and tests without getting too stressed, so I figure this paradigm will work pretty good in the future.

I've met a lot of cool people lately: a chill-ass hardcore kid from Jacksonville, a bunch of people from Denton, and a couple Muslim kids with whom I smoke hookah and talk philosophy.  The guy across the hall often drops buy for a quick cigar.  Cigar and hookah smoking are great social activities when taken in moderation, I've found.

What else?....  Clenched Fist show coming up pretty soon, and the Hudson Falcons in December.  Hopefully little things like school or work won't interfere.

***UPDATE***

What's up with this year and great shows?  BLOOD FOR FUCKING BLOOD in January.  Nice.

***UPDATE II***

Death before Dishonor plays November 8th, possibly with No Warning.  EXCELLENT.

Well, everybody, I'm back in Memphis.  Sorry to anybody who I didn't get to see or speak with before I left, but shit got pretty hectic pretty fast and I didn't get to take care of everything I needed to do before I left.  So, sorry again.

In any case, things are doing O.K.  Rhodes has made a transition to an even tougher curriculum, where students must spend even more time outside of class ever before.  Latin and Sociology alone require 20 hours of time outside of class per week in order to keep up with rigorous pace of their respective syllabi.  However, rather than 5 classes per semester, Rhodes has chosen to recommend 4 classes per semester for 16 credit hours.  Anyway, this semester will be quite interesting to say the least.  Here's a list of classes to anyone who cares:

Latin 265 - Yet another course on Latin literature.  This semster it's Vergil's Eclogues and Georgics, and Horace's Odes and Epodes, possibly with some Propertius thrown on the end.  Promises to be quite interesting, as we are now back in hexametric poetry (which I like a lot).

Sociology 105 - Basic Sociology.  Today we talked about the theory of Deconstruction, and the professor seems to know what the hell he's doing.  So that ought to be fun.

Humanities 201-  Continuing my required basic Humanities requirement.  Rather than having a bunch of sections all doing the same thing, like in the first year, you get to choose the track you'd like to take.  I decided to take the class dedicated to the development of Eastern / Russian Orthodoxy, and eventually a Russian identity.  Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky are on the reading list, which I like a lot.

English 385 - It's a Junior Seminar class, but I decided to get it out of the way.  It's a class dedicated to the development of Parody and Satire in the English language.  Promises to be quite a ride.  Incidentally, the professor is VERY VERY English.  Like "Oi, mate, cuppa tea, bloody hell, beans on toast" English.  Like I said, promises to be quite a ride.

Well, I didn't go to the San Antonio Gorilla Biscuits show.  However, due to a quick change in the tour schedule, they're going to Nashville tomorrow.  You know I'm goin', and for a lot less hassle than the SA show.

Got homework to do.  I'm out.

***UPDATE***

The Gorilla Biscuits show TORE.  They played every great song and the Nashville scene was very nice.  The venue was excellent as well.  Great night, all the way around.
